Family Fun Fishing Day returns to River Bend Farm State Park in Uxbridge Saturday, May 20 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (rain date May 21). Free to attend, this inclusive catch- and-release event welcomes young and old, experienced anglers and first-time fishers alike. The Family Fun Fishing Day is sponsored by the Blackstone River Watershed Association and Alternatives in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation and the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife.
“We’re thrilled to be collaborating again this year,” said Joanne Holahan of the Blackstone River Watershed Association. “We’re also pleased to again be able to offer it free of charge. We’ve heard first-hand from families how much this can make a difference.”
“Family Fun Fishing Day is truly an inclusive event,” said Jennifer MacNeill of Alternatives. “It brings the community together in a fun way and for a great cause. After all, we’re not only learning how to fish, we’re learning how to practice habits that improve the health of our local watershed.”
Fishing rods and reels, along with bait, will be provides free of charge provided on a first-come, first-served basis, though participants are welcomed to bring their own equipment. Food and beverages will be offered for sale by Uxbridge First Holiday Night. If desired, attendees are also welcome to pack a picnic lunch. Prizes are made possible by Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Family Fun Fishing Day is FREE to attend, but registration is strongly recommended. For more information about this event contact Jennifer MacNeill at 508-266-6552 or Jennifer.MacNeill@AlternativesNet.org.
