At ValleyCAST, we know the arts have the power to connect, heal, and inspire. As the arts and culture arm of Open Sky, we bring people of all abilities together through creative community experiences. Whether you’re a neighbor, an art lover, or a music fan, you are a vital part of this community, and we’d love to have you join our team!

ValleyCAST is located at the historic Alternatives Whitin Mill complex, on the Mumford River in downtown Whitinsville, MA. From our popular free Summer Concert Series to regular art gallery exhibits, creative workshops, and performances, there’s plenty happening at the Mill!

How You Can Help

Because we are a small team, our volunteers make a big difference! With your support, we can better foster inclusivity and help community arts thrive. What kinds of things can ValleyCAST volunteers help with?

  • Event Ambassadors: help us host by staffing welcome tables, greeting guests, and sharing info at concerts and gallery openings.
  • Behind-the-Scenes crew: assist with light physical work like event setup, breakdown, and keeping things running smoothly.
  • Community Champions: distribute flyers and promotional materials to local businesses and community boards, helping us spread the word.
  • On-The-Go Support: assist with event-related driving and logistics, and transport a new friend along the way!

Ready to Volunteer?

To ensure a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for everyone in the Open Sky and ValleyCAST community, our volunteer onboarding process includes a brief interview and a background check.

  1. Fill out the Volunteer Interest Form, which asks a few questions about your interests and availability (which you can always adjust later).
  2. A member of the Open Sky team will contact you for a brief chat and walk through the background check process.
