Movie: Shane

Shane is a 1953 American Technicolor Western film starring Alan Lass, Jean Arthur and Van Heflin. Released by Paramount Pictures, the film is noted for its landscape cinematography, editing, performances, and contributions to the genre. The picture was produced and directed by George Stevens from a screenplay by A.B. Guthrie, Jr., based on the 1949 novel of the same name by Jack Schaefer. Its Oscar-winning cinematography was by Loyal Griggs. (quoted from Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia). The film is 1 hour, 58 minutes in length.

A weary gunfighter in 1880s Wyoming begins to envision a quieter life after befriending a homestead family with a young son who idolizes him, but a smoldering range war forces him to act.

ValleyCAST, in collaboration with the Ayer Film Society, is diversifying their community building endeavors in and through a feature length film series. These movie events will include a discussion after each screening. They are free and open to the general public and offer inclusive opportunities for Whitinsville and surrounding communities to engage in cinematic shared experiences. The public will view films of consistently high quality once a month in an inviting and welcoming setting. Films designed to promote knowledge of and appreciation for cinema as an art form will be screened. The discussions that follow the movie presentations stand to enhance participants' film experience and promote community at the same time.
