Free Presentation on the Roman Soldier

Join Artist & Living Historian Andy Volpe at the Singh Performance Center to learn about the life & times, arms, armor and combat tactics of the Roman Legionary soldier in the days of the Roman Empire.  Andy utilizes replicas copied from actual artifacts and keeps up on the latest academic and archaeological information about the Romans. The audience will be invited to get a hands-on experience with some of these replicas after the free one-hour program.

Andy has been presenting on the Roman soldier since 2002 with the former Higgins Armory Museum in Worcester, where the collection and living history presentations continue at Worcester Art Museum. Andy has also been bringing this presentation to area schools, libraries and even colleges since 2004. Area teachers of History, Social Studies, and Classical Studies/Latin are more than welcome at the presentation.

While his presentation is open to "all ages" - please note the content and historical context should be considered for ages 13 and up.  

Andy also works in one of the Artist Studios, across the Dennis H. Rice Plaza from the Singh Performance Center, in the 1826 Red Brick Mill Building. He will invite presentation guests to his studio after his presentation.
