Dr. Oliver Joseph joins Alternatives and The Bridge

August 2018

Alternatives and The Bridge are pleased to welcome Dr. Oliver Joseph to the staff. Dr. Joseph is a graduate of Boston University and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. He completed his residency in psychiatry at UMass Memorial Medical Center. While at Virginia Tech, he was awarded Letters of Distinction in Research, Psychiatry and Service Learning & Community Service. In addition, Dr. Joseph was named “Volunteer of the Year” by the Bradley Free Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia.

During his training, Dr. Joseph developed a particular interest in working with individuals with neuropsychiatric issues, developmental disabilities and brain injury, which he sees as underserved populations. He knew about both Alternatives and The Bridge’s reputations as human service providers and was particularly intrigued by the affiliation. He sees joining the new organization as an opportunity to use his skills “to improve the quality of life of individuals served.”

At Alternatives and The Bridge, Dr. Joseph will be providing consultation to the Central Community Health Partnership with a particular focus on assisting people with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorders and Acquired Brain Injuries. He will also be providing consultation to ACCS and direct psychiatric services through the Bridge Counseling Center.
