WORCESTER—Open Sky Community Services, which is based in Worcester, has earned  major recognition for two of its outlets and its programs. Tradewinds Clubhouse in Southbridge and Crystal House Clubhouse in Gardner have earned three-year Clubhouse International Accreditations, the organization announced, recognizing the programs for adhering to globally recognized standards in clubhouse services.

The accreditations affirm the quality of these free employment and vocational rehabilitation programs, which use evidence-based mental health recovery models for adults. Tradewinds serves 15 surrounding communities from its Main Street location, while Crystal House supports 13 communities from Lake Street. Both are among 36 Massachusetts members of the Massachusetts Clubhouse Coalition.

“These Clubhouse programs are an exceptional piece of Open Sky’s programming and have demonstrated the power of employment to open the doors to recovery and further opportunity for over 30 years,” said Open Sky President and CEO Ken Bates in the release. “The Clubhouse International Accreditations signify the dedication of our staff to the recovery of the individuals we serve, as well as the courage and resilience that Clubhouse members demonstrate in their journeys. The accreditations are a remarkable honor and reminder of what is possible when people are given the tools to overcome challenges.”

The accreditation process involved a three-day site survey by Clubhouse International surveyors, who observed operations and conducted confidential interviews with employees, board members, and members. Their findings were translated into a formal report, highlighting strengths and recommendations across eight categories of international standards.

The report commended Tradewinds for its approach to transitional employment, educational resources, diverse Advisory Board, member support, and culture of respect and collaboration. Crystal House was recognized for expanding community outreach, incorporating new community voices, and offering social opportunities that support mental health recovery.
