WORCESTER, Mass. (May 28, 2024) – Open Sky Community Services, a nonprofit behavioral health and human services organization, announced today that Emmanuel “Manny” Oppong, MSW, LICSW, has been named Executive Vice President, Chief Program Officer for the organization. Oppong started on May 28.
“We are thrilled that Manny has joined Open Sky as our next chief program officer,” said President and CEO Ken Bates. “His clinical background, extensive experience working in a variety of settings and his innovative approach to service expansion and integration will have a tremendous impact throughout our organization, from our staff to the people who rely on Open Sky for supports and services.”
As chief program officer, Oppong is responsible for all aspects of service delivery across Open Sky’s broad continuum of care for children, adults and families affected by mental health and substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, brain injury, homelessness and other complex challenges. A proven leader, he will work to balance service excellence with fiscal sustainability and foster a collaborative work environment.
Prior to joining Open Sky, Oppong was Vice President of Service Integration at Riverside Community Care. He has also served as an area clinical manager with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families and was an assistant director with the Boston Emergency Services team providing mobile crisis intervention.
Oppong, of Hingham, is a licensed independent clinical social worker, and earned a Master of Social Work degree from Simmons University and studied Human Services Leadership and Public Administration at Suffolk University through a fellowship with the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English Education from the University of Education in Ghana.
