Warming Centers Available

February 2023

Warming Centers are available throughout our area during this extreme cold. 

It is so important that people who are sleeping outside or whose heating sources are not safe or reliable are aware of these resources.

Charlton:

Charlton Town Hall

*Our Charlton contact was working with the town of Spencer to open a warming center there, as part of a regional effort through the Charlton Board of Health. At this time status is pending.*

 

Dudley:

There is a warming shelter at the Dudley Fire Department from now until 7 Am Sunday morning

Fitchburg:

Friday, Salvation Army, 739 Water St Fitchburg, will have a warming shelter open from 8am-4pm. 

The Salvation Army Canteen will be mobile in the community throughout the weekend.

Anyone in need of a warming shelter on Saturday or Sunday please go to the Fitchburg Police Station at 20 Elm St.  

 

Gardner:

Senior Center
Friday, February 3rd from 7:30 am to 7:00 pm

Leominster:

Leominster Emergency Management

Open Friday 2/3, 9am-11pm and Saturday, 12pm-10pm

Overnight shelter can be arranged if needed - see a staff member at Emergency Management

 

Marlborough:

On Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Marlborough's Main Library at the Walker Building, Marlborough police headquarters and the Maple Street fire station will be open as warming centers.

The city has also suggested the Solomon Pond Mall as a fourth option; it's open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Milford:

Pathway to a Better Life is a temporary warming shelter that is open when it is 20 degrees and below.

St. Mary's Church
17 Winter Street, Milford

Doors open at 9:30pm and lock at 10pm. It is a safe warm place to sleep out of the cold. Text or call 508-488-9107 to find out if it is open.

 

Northbridge:

The Town of Templeton has anticipated with the upcoming frigid temperatures that residents may have the need to use a warming shelter. The Town has arranged for the opening of the Senior Community Center upon request from any resident that needs to use it. Residents may request the use of the center by clicking here.

 

Winchendon:

Worcester:

Worcester Senior Center

Worcester 3-1-1 will have extended hours from 7am to 1pm on Saturday.

 

Uxbridge:

*For those who may have no heat or electricity and need a place to warm up and possibly charge their electronic devices, the Senior Center located at 36 South Main Street is a warming station on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 8am-4pm and the Uxbridge Library located at 15 North Main Street is a warming station on Saturday, February 4 from 9am-2pm.


*The warming stations are not open at night and if residents need further assistance, they should call the Uxbridge Fire Department or the Uxbridge Police Department.
