ValleyCAST Announces Winners of the "Inside & Out" People's Choice Awards

March 1, 2022
Spaulding R. Aldrich Heritage Gallery, 50 Douglas Road, Whitinsville, MA

ValleyCAST collaborated with the New England Sculptors Association to bring a unique exhibit of sculpture to the Whitin Mill. Over 30 sculptures were included in the exhibit and displayed inside the gallery, out on the Community Plaza, and around the grounds of the Mill Complex. Artists from all over New England were represented in the exhibit.

Everyones on-line and in-person votes were counted and prizes for favorites were awarded for first, second, and third place.

People came to explore the grounds and the gallery to see all the amazing sculpture “Inside and Out” and then they voted for their favorite.” Says Cristi Collari, judge and curator for the exhibit, and Director of Community Outreach for Open Sky. “Everyone remarked how hard it was to choose just one. They were all worthy of winning a prize.”

First prize and $300.00 went to Lisa Benson of Waltham, MA for her inside, wall mounted sculpture “Birth” created with plaster, acrylic, waxes, and pigments.

Second prize and $200.00 went to Linda Hoffman of Harvard, MA for her outside, freestanding, bronze sculpture “Refuge.”

Third prize and $100.00 went to Rebecca McGee Tuck of Natick, MA for her inside, wall mounted sculpture “Piedmont” created from found objects, textiles, and an abandoned oil painting.

Although the inside exhibit has come down to make room for the ValleyCAST 9th Annual Art Palette Contest, you can still view sculpture outside on the grounds by the following artists:

Cassie Doyon

Roe Osborn

R. Douglass Rice
