Movie: Les Miserables (2012)
No ticket needed, just come a little early to get a good seat!
Les Miserables takes place in France during the early nineteenth century. After 19 years as a prisoner, Jean Valjean is freed by Javert, the officer in charge of the prison workforce. Valjean promptly breaks parole but later uses money from stolen silver to reinvent himself as a mayor and factory owner. Javert vows to bring Valjean back to prison. Eight years later, Valjean becomes the guardian of a child named Cosette after her mother's death, but Javert's relentless pursuit means that peace will be a long time coming.
ValleyCAST, in collaboration with the Ayer Film Society, is diversifying their community building endeavors in and through a feature length film series. These movie events will include a discussion after each screening. They are free and open to the general public and offer inclusive opportunities for Whitinsville and surrounding communities to engage in cinematic shared experiences. The public will view films of consistently high quality once a month in an inviting and welcoming setting. Films designed to promote knowledge of and appreciation for cinema as an art form will be screened. The discussions that follow the movie presentations stand to enhance participants' film experience and promote community at the same time. Presented by special arrangement with Swank Motion Pictures.
