For many years, the Valley Friendship Tour, Open Sky's signature fundraising event, has been held in the spring. In 2020, it was held virtually in June. But, last year, we were determined to come together again in celebration. We postponed it until September, hoping that COVID would be a distant memory. Of course, THAT didn't happen. But, with protocols in place, it was a joyful experience to see hundreds of people on the Plaza at the Whitin Mill again to raise funds in support of the people we serve while enjoying a day of exercise, terrific music and entertainment, good food and great conversations. Best of all, the event raised more than $163,000 in support of the critical services Open Sky provides.
We're getting things back on track for the 37th Annual Valley Friendship Tour and are already planning for the return of the Tour to its normal spring schedule. So mark you calendars for Saturday, June 11, 2022!
New to the Tour? Let us tell you about about this wonderful event.
All proceeds from the Tour fund essential programs at Open Sky. By coming together with others, Tour sponsors and participants are helping to ensure the youth, young adults, and families Open Sky serves will have the support they need to build fulfilling lives.
Participants are invited to walk, jog or pedal through the Blackstone Valley on one of three non-competitive routes: a Golden Mile walk, a 5K walk/run and a 30 Mile cycling option. The choice of routes means that people of all ages and abilities, those with and without disabilities, are able to come together as equal participants. All routes begin and end at the Alternatives Whitin Mill in Whitinsville, MA, where participants come together to enjoy lunch, live entertainment, child-friendly activities.
How can you participate? You can register as part of a team or take part in the Tour as an individual. Can't attend? We hope you'll donate AND tell your friends and family. Questions? Email us at VFT2022@openskycs.org
